OYA Renewables or its long-term ownership group (through local subcontractors) will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the solar farm. Operation and maintenance typically require a visit to site a few times per year for vegetation management, snow removal, and mechanical maintenance.
The electricity that is produced by the solar farm is fed into the local electricity grid and is physically delivered to various energy users by the utility.
Yes. Many of the landowners only lease us a portion of their property and use the remaining land to continue farming or operating their business. Until construction start you would continue to use the land as you always have, with the caveat that you would not do anything to the land that would prevent our construction or operation of the solar system. For example, we ask that you not build any obstructions that would shade our solar system in the future.
The ideal land for solar is reasonably cleared and level, it is located near a substation (1-3 miles) and close to 3-phase power line (<1 mile). If you’re unsure if your land qualifies for solar, contact us and we will assess and evaluate your land.
The amount of money you can possibly get from your land depends on a wide range of factors such as proximity to the substation and capacity. A realistic estimate is approximately between $600 to $1,500 per acre but there are often very good reasons for going outside of that range.
Once the lease has been finalized, we can begin the planning phase. A project can take around 2 to 3 years to complete.
